Hello! My name is Rachel Tracy, and I am a freshman here at Miami, majoring in Journalism and Political Science. I live in Cincinnati, OH (about an hour from here), but I do not go home very often from school. If you are familiar with Cincinnati, I live in the Batavia area. I am 18 years old, and I have five younger siblings. Three sisters and two brothers, ages 7, 5, 3, 1, and newborn. My brother was actually just born last Wednesday, so I babysit quite a lot! I’m a big family person, and I am the closest with my mom, she is one of my best friends. Back home I am a server at a pizza place and I love my job! I absolutely love school, and I like that college is a challenge for me. I am applying to be a Resident Assistant for next school year, and I am applying to be an Undergraduate Assistant for a course I took last semester. My dream is to become an anchor women and live in New York City.

  1. Hi Rachel! We have lots in common– mainly, though, it sounds like our interests in journalism and political science align. I took a lot of journalism classes when I was an undergrad and my stepdad has been teaching political science for over 30 years! I too worked as a server in a pizza place in college. It was a lot of fun because a lot of my friends worked there too. Such a big family! Congratulations on the newest addition! I am the youngest of three so I don’t know what it’s like to have so many siblings or be an older sibling. It’s awesome that you like the challenge that college presents you– you’ll get way more out of this experience with such a positive attitude. Looking forward to meeting you in class!
